Two names for the same thing (same as a dozen posts
for the same question . . .).

But terminal server needs license and regardless of number of user
connected ? whereas rdp only can have 2 connection for server and 1 for
xp ?

In your first post you asked "which is better". The answer is
still that they are the same. Licensing is a different issue
altogether. Depending on which server you have, you can
purchase as many licences as you like.

Terminal server when used in a server operative system has to modes.
Administration and application.
In admin mode you have 2 concurrent connections for free.
In app mode you have unlimited number of connections but, you need a licence
por each one.

You're mixing up terms.

RDP is a client that is used to connect to a server running Terminal
Services. Terminal Services runs on a server in one of two modes:
Administration and Application. If it is in Administration mode, only
two connections are allowed. Neither uses a TSCAL. If it is in
Application Mode, it allows as many connections as there are licenses
installed ($$).
