- re-enabling Internet Access
- Posted by Annonymous on February 21st, 2005
After viewing many suggestions and ideas for blocking internet access using
group policys (forcing a false proxy server address - 127.0.0.1). I decided
to try it out. It works well cutting off IE, MSN and real player (my 3 main
goals) whilst still allowing access to my intranet. When i move the user back
out of the GP with the proxy settings into one which has none the user keeps
the proxy settings - 127.0.0.1 (not allwing them internet access) ALL OTHER
GP SETTINGS ARE CORRECT.
The only way ive found to get round this problem is to delete the roaming
profile on the workstation and get the user to log back on. Is there a way to
revert back to no proxy settings for users who have been allowed internet
connectivity back.
Thanks in advance
TC

In the user's new OU apply a new policy: User Configuration/Windows
Settings/Internet Explorer Maintenance/Connection
Connection Settings - select Import the current connection settings from
this machine - if necessary, Modify/Edit to eliminate the proxy server
settings.
