Registered Name Change
Posted by SeanL on March 13th, 2006

We are undergoing a company name change, and all the licencing is being
transferred to the new entity. There are however cosmetic changes required
on the servers and workstations. The new management want to see the new
company details on any of the licence screens. example: if you right click
"my computer" then select properties, a "Registered To:" field is populated
with the old company name. Is there any way to change this?

Navigate to;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
and edit the Reg_Sz strings:

"RegisteredOrganization"
"RegisteredOwner"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Modify the values for RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization
