Repost - Slow logon after SP1 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server for roaming profiles

Have you tried creating a new user and profile and logging them onto the SP1
server to see if it is the same?

Loading personal settings is the actual loading of the profile itself. What
size is the profile directory. Also, after logging onto the SP1 server does
the user have a slow logon to a non-SP1 server? i.e. does it change the
profile in some way?

I didn't get any helpful responses so I am sending this post again.

I am running Windows 2003 Terminal Server on a number of machines. Using
group policy the profiles are all stored as roaming profiles on the file
server. After installing SP1 the logon process takes much, much longer. I
tested this by changing a profile from roaming to local and logon was
instantaneous, as a roaming profile it took about half a minute.

I thought it was related to the firewall but with the firewall disabled it
takes just as long. At the moment the log on is unacceptably long and I wont
install SP1 on the other servers.

Any suggestions what to do?

Adrian

Yes I created new accounts and tested them.

When logging on, I see "Loading personal settings" for a few seconds, then
"Applying Personal settings" takes ages. I thought maybe this was to do with
the Group Policy that is set up.
Locally stored accounts are lightning fast and roaming accounts on pre SP1
identical servers are reasonably fast.

Thanks,
Adrian

Is anything else on the server slow in relation to the network? i.e.
copying files, websites (if it is IIS) etc.

The size of the profile doesn't seem to have any affect. New profiles were
1MB others 5MB. After it is loaded the processing takes a long time. When
later logging on to a different server it is quick again.
