RIS Answer file doesn't add the Name and Prod. Key to install
Posted by Skip on May 28th, 2005

I am running RIS installs on client machines using both XP and .net server.
Both use an unattended answer file. This file is named unattend.sif and
resides in a share on the system drive. All other RIS files are located on a
second drive. The problem that I am having is that when the install runs I am
still prompted for "Name" and "product key". Both of these attributes are in
the answer file and all other attributes are answered by the file. I'm
baffled. It doesn't do much good if I have to attend to an unattended
install. Please help.

Hi, you need to use the RIS answer file. Not the unattend.
For full details, look into your deploy.cab help files.

You generate a RIS answer file, and then go to AD, look for the RIS server
and add the answer file to the image of your RIS Server.
