- scandinavian characters
- Posted by Antti on December 5th, 2005
For example:
echo åäö > test.txt
type test.txt
åäö
Looks fine, but if I open the text file, the characters look like a cross,
and some quotes. I can type in scandinavian characters in Notepad, but
when echoed in command prompt they look like this: Õõ÷. The codepage (chcp)
is 850. I don't get it. Why text files and command prompt use characters
differently in the same system?
