- Server 2003 Problems

I do not know where to start troubleshooting this problem.
The problem is that all clients lose the ability to communicate to the
server. I can ping the server and remote into it via Radmin and it
looks like everything is fine. I have no error messages in the event
log etc. The problem is you cannot get to the server via drive
mappings etc. I just issue a reboot through Radmin and the problem is
fixed. There is also no pattern to it to make it seem like a memory
leak. It can happen 2 days in a row or it can go weeks before it
happens again.
Now here is the real kicker. This happened under the old file server
(Windows 2000 Server and different hardware). The only common thing
between the 2 servers is the data (excel / word / etc) was moved from
each server.
Does anyone have some advice on where I start looking?
Thanks for the help.

What you may want to try just to narrow this down is the next time it
happens, try mapping a drive to the IP of the server and not the Netbios
name. So \\192.168.1.1\Share . If that works then you probably have some
DNS lookup issue going on or WINS if you are using it.

Well it happened again today. I am noticing that it tends to have the
problem on disk intensive operations. I ran a manual backup job and it
caused the same issue. I tried mapping via the ip address and it
would not let me. Thanks for the help.
