I'm running into a problem.
I have a newer machine that is running Windows Server 2003 Standard
Edition. Yesterday morning, I let Automatic Updates install Service
Pack 1.
Well, after installing, I ran into the problem of it hanging on
'Applying Computer Settings' I let it run for 50 minutes there the
first time, but still could not get past that screen. The weird thing,
is the users could still log in, if they hadn't logged out previously
(which makes me think that if they had a DHCP address, they were fine,
because the DHCP service wasn't running yet, or something to that
effect). The users could browse the web (DNS must have been working)
and still access all the share drives on the server.
All of the help and support documents that I've found, suggested a
problem for APC's PowerChute softwarem, and listed a fix for it. The
problem that comes is that we don't have the PowerChute software
installed on this machine.
The symtoms are almost identical to this fix from Microsoft, but once
again, no PowerChute software, so no services that the fix recommends
disabling.
