- Server not displaying the correct amount of memory installed
- Posted by robbo on March 26th, 2008
Hi,
I have installed 2gb of RAM into a HP DL380 G3 server running Windows 2003
standard version, but when I look at the system proerties through control
panel it only shows 768mb of memory, I have run the HP Management agent on
the server and looked at the config for the DIMM's and it displays all 4
slots have 512md sticks installed. is there a way of getting the OS to
display the correct amount of memory installed?
Thanks

Do you perhaps have the wrong type of memory for the server?
What does it show in BIOS and in the HP diagnostics (apart from that there
are four sticks physically there)? When you boot up the server, how much
memory does it show it has?

Hi Anthony,
When I restated the server the bios displayed "2048mb detected" when I run
the HP Management agent is shows all four 512mb sticks and reports they they
are all good and in use.
Thanks

What does Task Manager tell you about the physical memory available, and
what is using it?
