Setting Desktop Background but not via Active Desktop
Posted by Yobbo on January 30th, 2007

Hi All

I've seen the default procedure of enabling active desktop and then setting
the desktop background/wallpaper, but I've never liked active desktop it
always seems to make my machines 'lumpy'.

Is there any other way I can get the desktop background to be a certain pic
depending on what user logs in, eg year 1 logs in and their desktop
background is blue with a YEAR 1 at the top right, teacher logs in and their
desktop bg is red with a TEACHER at the top right, etc?

Thanks

We answered this for you just the other day didn't we?

Yes, set the background picture in a GPO, then link it to one of the OUs
that present Teachers, Y-x, or whatever with a different picture. You
will also need to make sure each machine has a copy of all the pictures.

Truthfully, I seldom see my desktop -- it's under a pile of Windows. <grin>

My has BGInfo displaying the computer, ram, processor, net, hard drives,
etc. (BGInfo is free from SysInternals.com or MS now)
