Hello all,
I slipstreamed sp1 into my volume license server 2003 std CD and
attempted a clean install on two new Dell Poweredge 750's. I've tried
installing with and without using the Dell utility CD and either way
get this error at the beginning of setup, a few seconds after seeing
"Press F6 to load an additonal SCSI or RAID driver"...
The file amdide.sys could not be found
Press any key to continue
....at which point setup fails and exits.
This file, amdide.sys is new to sp1 and does not exist on my original
CD. I extracted the file from the service pack and expanded it reveal
the version information:
File Version: 5.2.3790.1830
Description: AMD IDE Driver
Copywright: Copyright (C) AMD 2003
The Dell utility CD actually pre-copies all the basic setup files to a
temp folder on the C drive and since I chose FAT32 I was able to
reboot on a DOS floppy disk and look for the file. It is there in
compressed format as amdide.sy_. Just for grins I copied the
uncompressed file - amdide.sys into the folder and rebooted but it
didn't help.
It isn't my CD, it loads fine on another Dell workstation I use as a
test server. It's something to do with this model of server and the
new AMD ide driver. Can anyone assist?
