SMTP Server Time Incorrect
Posted by Jonny Wilkinson on April 13th, 2005

Hi

I'm running Windows Server 2003 and using the MS SMTP Virtual server for
sending emails from my web application. Since the clocks have changed for
day light savings the time stamps on the emails are an hour out. I've tried
restarting the SMTP service but it doesn't help. I can't really afford to
restart the server. Does anyone know how the SMTP service is getting its
time and why it's incorrect? I've tried sending emails through the SMTP
server using Outlook Express and the time is still incorrect.

Many thanks

Jonny

I've just tried Telnet'ing in to our SMTP server and on the welcome text it
has the correct time! So the time is only incorrect on messages that are
being sent out!

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Hi I've fixed the problem... It was actually my local computer that didn't
have the DST option selected!!
