Software Restriction Policy and mapped drives
Posted by Bonnie_K on April 8th, 2005

Hi,

I am implementing a software restriction policy on a Windows 2003 server
running terminal services \ citrix pres server 3.0 and have the policy set to
disallow.

We have some centrally located executables that reside on a netware file
server (N: Drive). Even though I specify an unrestricted path rule for the
executable N:\cmath\cmath.exe I still get the error that a software
restriction policy is not allowing the app to run.

I found an article related to a hotfix for XP for this (815471) but not for
Server 2003. The article says it is a problem with Netware mapped drives,
but even if I try to run an app from a share off of a Windows 2K server I
can't run it even though I put in an exception for it.

Any knowledge of this limitation or info regarding a fix or workaround would
be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Bonnie
