- Strange Windows Activation Request
- Posted by James Lord on January 24th, 2006
Hi there,
I have an issue with a test network that I am trying to build for a small
client. They are using CRM 1.2 and want to upgrade to CRM 3.
They want to be able to test the deployment using virtual server.
Great no problems there. I have created VS using the trial version of
Windows 2003. I have restore the Domain Controller and the system state.
This where the issues lies. The restored server now needs activating!!!!
So here is the question. Does anyone know how to DOWNGRADE a retail copy of
Windows 2003 back to trial so I do not infringe the EULA and can successfully
activate my test server.
TIA
James

Hmm... There's no way to downgrade it.
Explain the situation to MS Customer Service when you want to have the real
server activated (online activation will fail, you will need to use phone
activation).
