- Time-out on network shares
- Posted by Ib Schrader on March 15th, 2007
Hi
I am looking for a way to reduce the time Windows attempts to locate a
server share before timing out. Say my file server is down, and I click my
H:\ drive that I have mapped to a share on that server. Windows sometimes
appear to hang while it attempts to contact the server and then in the end
time-outs and gives me an error message.
Anyone know how to tune this time-out setting?
Notice I want to set the time-out on my Windows XP client and not on the
file server.
Thanks in advance.
