Transfer Files During Remote Desktop Administration
Posted by wmpao on October 12th, 2004

I am able to establish a Remote Desktop connection with my Windows 2003
server standard edition. However, I am not sure how to transfer files from
my local machine to the remotely managed server. I tried to drag-and-drop
the files I wanted to transfer but that didn't work.

I would suggest mapping a drive from your machine to the target machine.

Click the Options button on the RDP client dialog prior to connecting to the
remote server. From there, click the Local Resources tab and check Disk
Drives in the Local devices section. Now make you connection to the remote
server.

Now in your RDP session bring up My Computer and you should see your local
PCs drives (both local and network) in the list of resources. Click on the
drive that has the files you need to transfer and copy as normal.
