Update printer driver for all users.

How can I update a printer driver for all users of an XP machine without
logging in as each user? The printer is a shared printer that is spooled on a
Server 2003 machine.

Automatically share the printer in a login script for each user:

Quite a few ways to do it depending on your preference and client computer OS.

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. I want to UPDATE the
driver files(DLLs) on the XP machine. My understanding is that once a printer
is installed to a machine the DLLs are copied from the server to the local
machine. The next time someone logs in the files are not recopied. I have a
situation where it appears something changed in the DLL's on the local
machine causing improper function. I want to RELOAD these DLLs from the
server to fix the problem. My question is are there copies of each each DLL
for each user on the local machine or can I simply logon as Administrator,
delete the printer and reattach it and the printer driver will be updated for
all users?

Thanks.

I too have a similar problem...
We seem to have varied driver versions on local machines. I also thought
that the driver would be installed with the version on the server. We use a
logon script to map the printers at logon and disconnect on logoff...
I'd like to know if you find a solution to this...
cheers
