- VPN users not prompted for a password change
- Posted by Jacob on August 12th, 2004
I have an IAS server Windows 2003 configured to allow
users to remotely connect to the domain using VPN. The
sysyem works properly excepting the fact that a user
doesn't receive the alert for a password change. (The
domain is NT based). Is it a setting that I'm not aware
about it? Thanks

The issue is that when a user is connecting via VPN they have already logged
into their PC, the alert for password expiry and password changes is done
during the logon process to the PC. When they log on over VPN because they
have already passed that point they won't recieve the alert.
The way to get around this is to have the VPN client startup as a service so
that when they logon to their PC they are already logged in via the VPN and
therefore will get the password messages when they login to their PC.
Not sure if there are any other ways to work around this.
