- W3K R2 disk quota - user directories showing incorrect free space
- Posted by mblikescoffee@gmail.com on February 2nd, 2007
I am using FSRM to setup quotas for user directories. So far
everything works fine with the exception of the free disk space that
shows up for user directories. The quota is 500 MB per user but when
you open your user directory in explorer it shows you have 400 GB of
available space which is the entire space on the raid. The 500 MB
limit is imposed but I can already hear the phone ringing with
questions on this.
Setup....
AD on Windows 2003 standard server, using connect option to map user
directory on home server.
Home server 2003 Ent 64 bit R2 with 400 GB SAN storage.
Any ideas how to get the correct disk space to show at the users PC?
Thank you.

The quota is 500 MB per user but when
That is how Windows displays the disk size.
ABE prevents a user from seeing folders they don't have access to. Not sure
if it prevents seeing disk space a user doesn't have access to.
See:

Other than that, create 500 MB drives on the RAID array and map your users
to a 500 MB drive.

There's no possible way to have the user see their real space usage.
