- Windows 2003 Customization Question
- Posted by Robert on January 30th, 2007
Hello,
How do I set the background of the log in screen specifically? There
are some client machines I remote into that shows a specific
background when logging in and then at the desktop it reverts to plain
blue.
Also, how do I display a prompt before the login screen which they
have to click okay too? I want to put a message in a box that they
have to agree to.
Another question. Does anyone know of a good server app that shows
the name of the server in the system tray? Thanks!

To set the background color or the wallpaper, see "Change the Windows Logon
screen background color" at http://windowsxp.mvps.org/logonbg.htm, which
also links to "Customize the logon screen wallpaper, screensaver and other
settings using Tweak UI" at <http://www.winxptutor.com/tweaklogon.htm>.
To display a message when the user logs on, see "How to configure Windows
Server 2003 to display a message when users log on" at
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310430>.
I do not know of a utility that displays the server name in the notification
area or "system tray". I use BGInfo, now available at
<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Miscellaneous/BgInfo.mspx>.
