- Windows 2003 Domain Controller: backup system state and system disk with NTBACKUP
- Posted by kazawacki on July 27th, 2006
Hi,
I've just installed a Windows 2003 domain controller but now I need to
schedule a good backup.
On the Microsoft websites I can find a lot of info on this topic, but
it is still not clear to me.
When they say you should backup the "system state" this is no problem
for me, I only select "system state" in the NTBACKUP tool.
But they also ask to backup the "system disk". Do they mean the whole C
(in my case the OS is installed on the C drive), or only the directory
"Volumpe System Information", or do they even mean other files.
I've now selected the whole C drive to be on the safe side. But as this
is several gigs, a faster backup would be more interresting.
