I am trying to use Windows 2003 standard server's backup utility to do
scheduled backups after hours. I have a tape assigned to each day of the work
week, but when I try to reuse the tape I get this prompt: There is no free
media available with the selected type, but the following media was found:
"media created 10/28/2004 at 9:32 AM" in device "Quantum DLTtape (tm)
DLT4000 Drive"
Do you want to use this media now?
Warning! The media appears to contain a vald backup. It will be erased if
you use this media.
I need a way to stop this prompt from coming up.
the tape drive is a HP Surestore DLT 40
I can access the tape through the backup software.
The volume was created by the backup job that is prompting me.
Under tools, options, general I have the following checked:
Compute selection information before backup and restore operations.
Use the catalogs on the media to speed up building restore catalogs on disk.
Backup the contents of mounted drives.
Show alert message when I start the backup utility and removable storage is
not running.
Show alert message when new media is inserted.
Always allow use of recognizable media without prompting.
I am using the normal backup type. Is there a command line switch, batch
file or check box that will stop that prompt?
