I recently discovered that a couple of my Windows 2003 Servers are miss
reporting what Service Pack they currently have installed. I did a clean
install of the OS software and then created an image and loaded that image on
a few other servers before I noticed that the server was reporting it had
Service Pack 4. Yes, I am fully aware that Windows 2003 only has SP1, No they
are not windows 2000 nor were they upgrade from windows 2000. I discovered
that they thought they had SP4 when I tried to install SP! I got the error
message a greater SP is already installed. My question is… Does anyone know
how to roll back a SP that is not listed in add remove programs. For example
is there a file or a spot in the registry that gets checked on boot for what
SP is loaded on a server?
