- windows crashes after installing tape drive
- Posted by bk on July 22nd, 2004
I have connected Certance tape drive on Intel RAID
controller card (Actually it has two channel, and I am
connecting to other channel, not on the chhanel which has
hard drives). Windows get crashed with the error
0x0000007e.
After rebooting it goes well and when I was trying to
backup, it carshed again with the error Stop:0x000000D1.
Now, sometime it crashes with the error 0x7e and sometime
with 0xD1. Now I have disconnected the drive and my
windows works fine. Does anybody faced this kind of
problem and give me the solution for it. Thanks.

Did you verify that the drive is on the hardware compatibility list for
operating system you are using?
Did you install the latest drivers for the device?

You may want to check this:

Which software are you using for backup? If you're using a third party like
Veritas, I would suggest you contact them.
Best of luck
