Yes, I heard this today - and someone told me you had to uninstall IE7
before installing SP2.
I thought he was joking, but the following MS web page actually states that:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true.
"If you installed Internet Explorer 7 after installing Windows Server 2003
SP1, you must uninstall Internet Explorer 7 before you install Windows
Server 2003 SP2."

Is Microsoft joking ??? This can't be true.
How can I make WSUS and/or Automatic Update do that ?

The release notes on TechNet are going to be changed to address this more
clearly. A better way to phrase this is:

If you wish to uninstall Internet Explorer 7, take note of a common problem
with out-of-order uninstalls.

If you installed IE 7 before installing Windows Server 2003 SP2, and you
wish to uninstall IE7, ensure that you uninstall Windows Server 2003 SP2
first before uninstalling Internet Explorer 7. This will avoid a common
problem with out-of-order uninstalls. For more information, see Microsoft
Knowledge Base article 823386 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823836/).

Note that you do not have to uninstall IE7 in order to install Windows
Server 2003 SP2.

An even simpler way to put it: If you are installing SP2 on a computer
running SP1, to ensure that certain applications and components (such as
Internet Explorer® 7 and Windows .NET Framework 2.0) function properly,
install SP2 by using Windows Update.

IE7 users can upgrade directly to Windows Server 2003 SP2 without
uninstalling IE7 first. There has been some confusion around this point. We
are in the process of updating the release notes to clarify this issue.
