Windows Server 2003 User / Admin Home Folder Permissions...
Posted by HerrJAH on July 6th, 2006

Hi there, i am currently working in a school running a
windows server 2003 system, and we have just baught 16
mini macs running OS X Tiger 10.4.6. I have successfully
managed to use active directory with the macs to mount
home network folders from the windows servers on the
mac desktops for accounts with administrator privelages
straight from the initial login screen. However, as soon as
i attempt to log in and mount the home network folder
with a student account i am confronted with 'the home
folder for user 'XYZ' is not located in the usual place or
cannot be accessed - the home or users folder may have
been moved or deleted etc...' But it obviously hasn't
because all of the user accounts are set in a share
folder which contains all user accounts for the whole
school including my admin account. This leads me to
believe that it is a permissions issue between staff /
admin / and pupil user groups, but does anyone have any
idea which permissions i need to change to allow the
access of pupils logging on using the macs to their home
network folders?

Thank you.
