disabled welcome screen & fast user switching
Posted by beck99 on March 20th, 2005

I would like to be able to use welcome screen and fast user switching on my
home PC. When I try to use it I get the following error:
"A recently installed program has disabled the welcome screen and fast user
switching. To restore these features you must unistall the program. The
following file name might help you identify the program that made the change:
msgina.dll."

I'm using windows XP home edition. It directed me to this string.
"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon". I do not
apparently have WindowsNT. Because I can't find it. Please help.

Thank you,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Are you sure the "Windows NT" key is missing. I don't think so as it's a
vital part of the registry. Again, check here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft
\Windows NT
\CurrentVersion
\Winlogon

Delete the "GinaDLL" entry in the right-pane.
