- disk cleanup problem
- Posted by Bill W on December 18th, 2005
Hello,
When I run Disk Cleanup, I can't delete the following :
I have 32KB in WebClient/Publisher Temporary Files & 175,60K Compress old
Files that I can't clean up. I've tried more times than I can count and
really need help. I'm sure this is slowing my system down. I have 32KB in
WebClient/Publisher Temporary Files & 175,60K Compress old Files that I can't
clean up. I've tried more times than I can count and really need help. I'm
sure this must be slowing my system down.

Items stored on your hard drive will have a zero impact on the
performance of your computer. That includes all temporary files etc.
The 32KB in WebClient/Publisher Temporary Files is likely just one
file, especially if the hard drive is FAT32 with 32KB clusters. And
that could be something such as a desktop.ini file which cannot
normally be deleted.
"Compress old files" does not remove them - it just stores them in
compressed format (provided the drive is NTFS and not FAT32) to save
space.
Hope this explains the situation.
Good luck
