File sharing between XP and NT
Posted by Neko on April 7th, 2006

Hello, I'm having trouble while trying to transfer some files between a PC
(server) that is running on Windows NT to a PC (laptop) running on XP.

I can't use my external HD cause NT doesn't support USB drivers (I download
the win98 drivers for it, however they didn't work and I don't want to play
around too much with the PC (server)).
Tried to send the files over a LAN, however even though the Laptop can see
the Server and copy or send data, the Server can see the Laptop, but it could
not gain access to it (laptop). IT was able to see it in the domain (after we
added the laptop to the domain), but could not see the share on the laptop.

There is a good chance that it's the router that is not allowing me (since
it has a big "ProSafe Firewall" next to the logo). I gotta find a way to
configure the router...gonna try this today. I'm also thinking that it could
be a sharing/compatibility issue between NT and XP.

What I realy wanna know is if there are any known issues for file sharing
between XP and NT? Do they supposadly work fine, or is there something that
needs to be addressed.
And any suggestion would help, as always...ty
