Fred;
See if this helps:

There are lots of reasons I have heard people use to switch to Apple,
but this is a new one for me.
If you feel this may be a good reason to switch, I can only conclude
from your statement that Apple has no security.

I upgraded from w98 to XP Professional recently on my home desktop. I
obviously wasn't paying attention since I can't remember either my
user
name or password. I've tried typing in "administrator" and leaving
the
password blank - no luck there - I reloaded XP from the disk and it
skips
past the collecting information and dynamic update portions of the
installation, so that I don't get the chance to input an new username
and
password. Needless to say this is very fustrating.....
Does anyone have a fix for this problem, which I see is quite common.
Apple computers are looking better and better to me lately....
Thanx
