How many people can access the shared files for XP?
Posted by Eric on May 24th, 2008

Does anyone have any suggestions on how many people can access the shared
files for XP at the same time? In office, there are 35 people, and I would
like to setup XP for file sharing, based on the accessibility limitation for
XP, I have maximum 5 PCs for sharing. Does anyone have any suggestions on
how to plan the network structure?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

On a LAN this size it would be hard to justify continuing without a proper
fileserver. Apart from the limit on connections, having 35 people storing
data in random (and uncontrolled) locations will be sheer chaos.

Server 2003 would be a good choice, or if you're strapped for cash and
prepared to burn some midnight oil learning a new system, Debian or Ubuntu
Server.
