I am unable to load any new programs. My installer begins
to work but after approximately 10 seconds it shuts down
and I am back at the desktop. Is there any fix, or is
there a way to just reinstall the installer. Or do I have
to completely reinstall windows xp. Thanks.

Windows Installer error
Go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 msi.dll
then
Go to Start/Run and type
SFC /SCANNOW
Make sure you have your WinXP CD in the CD Drive before executing the SFC
command.
