- monitor driver diabled

trying to adjust monitor settings and now monitor goes black after initial
boot how can this be fixed

What happens if you boot to safe mode? You should get display there. Then
use Display Properties to readjust the monitor. Click OK. This should lock
in the new monitor settings for normal mode too (always did for other
versions of Windows; hopefully works in XP too). Then restart and try to
boot Windows normally.
