No user name comes up on opening screen, x/p home

No user name comes up on opening screen, x/p home: Posted by Megan Richmond on December 11th, 2003; Can anyone help? I am in a jam. My compaq presarrio
2500 lap top was working fine.

I am here at a friend's house doing work out of town. He
has a wireless hook up. I entered his wireless password
and my computer crashed.

Now, when I turn my lap top on there is no choice to log
on. I can not get past the opening screen. Any ideas?
