I keep getting a pop up that is unwanted
and "unauthorized". It attaches itself to my desktop. I
have deleted and uninstalled it to no avail. It keeps
coming back. Can anyone help?

Try downloading AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com. It will find and rid the
PC of spyware.

Are you online when you get the popup? Is it in an IE window or a window
that has "Messenger Service" in the title bar?

Check the system for spyware. AdAware is a good program for this
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Download and install the program. Launch the
program and use the Update feature. After the program is updated, run the
system check.

Or you can visit an online check :

You will also find links on that page leading to doxdesk.com, a site
well-known for documenting various parasites characteristics and their
removal.

If these are IE popups, may want to consider some pop up stopper software.

If the popups are in Messenger Sevice windows, get a firewall and run it.
Make sure NETBIOS is not enabled on your internet connection (check
properties in Network Connections). And if not on a network or if no
program uses the service, disable Messenger Service in Services (Start>
Run> services.msc)
