Problem installing windows xp home

Hi
I am attempting to install windows xp, I get to the part
when I am advised this will take 57 minutes but it crashes
when it reaches 52 minutes.
Can you help?
I have windows 98 se

Yes, return to Windows 98SE, while at the SE desktop, place the XP CD in the
drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility."
The report it generates may give a clue as to the source of the problem. Be
sure anything that is going to be installed after you upgrade is installed
when you do the above as you need to know any hardware or software that
might cause an issue.
