Problem signing on - no user accounts displayed
Posted by gary on June 30th, 2003

I just started having a problem when I turn on my computer
none of my 4 user accounts show up. Rather, the same
blue "windows logon" screen shows up, but only 1 icon
appears for "turn computer off".

I receive no error messages and I can't start in "safe
mode". Running my last known good configuration, debug
mode, etc. also do not work. The only thing remotely
working is "safe mode with prompts" which takes me to my
administrator accounts then into the command prompt. I
can see that all of my files are still on the hard drive
for each of my users.

I can't find any reference to this type of problem, or how
to resolve it, anywhere. Any assistance would be
appreciated.

Try this, go into Safe Mode, then try using System Restore to take you back
to a time prior to when the issue began. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

If that doesn't work, your user accounts are likely corrupted beyond the
ability of System Restore to recover them in which case, try the following
