- Posted by Dani on September 11th, 2003
my sister and i both have windows xp professional and
about once a month for the the past 3 or 4 months we we
got log on to our profiles and it would say they were
corrupted. well we would go and make a new one and it
would happen again. How do we stop this from
happening...the laptops we have are new we just got them
for christmas 2002.

Changing some security settings, most notably those concerned with file
ownership can corrupt a profile. Also, disk cleaning utilities can do it as
well. If you have such utilities used to clean the disk and/or the
registry, that can be the source of the issue. If your systems crash, that
can corrupt a profile. It doesn't usually happen for no reason even though
it may seem that way when it occurs.
