There is a manual procedure that allows you to recover from a
corrupted or missing registry, but it is extremely convoluted and not
something that should be attempted by an inexperienced user.

Also the above procedure requires that there be System Restore points
available, which you do not have.
At this point my suggestions for fixing the computer would be to use a
registry cleaning utility such as RegSeeker (free) from
http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
