Sharing - WINXP issues...
Posted by RAMII on February 17th, 2004

Hello all, i have a situation that has me confused! I
have a windows 2000 domain & client pc's of windows XP. I
also have other pc's connected to the network but not on
the domain. I installed a pc to the domain a few weeks
ago, & neede to share the printer that was connected to
that pc. I had domain & non domain pc's that needed to
connect & they were all winxp. I have done this millions
of times & came across something bizzare...
First, the computers on the domain could not connect.
when try to connect to "\\computername" (or ip address) i
would get this error message "\\COMPUTERNAME IS NOT
ACCESSIBLE. YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THIS
RESOURCE. CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS SERVER TO
FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE ACCESS PERMISSIONS. LOGIN FAILURE:
THE USER HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED THE REQUESTED LOGON TYPE TO
THIS COMPUTER".
I have checked & doublechecked all settings...including
enabling the guest account on that pc, adding the users
locally & giving them admin rights. I have even taken
that pc off of the domain & tried, & still get the
errors. Somehow, this pc is blocking all sharing &
communication from the outside. I have made sure the ICF
was not on also. I have also removed file sharing al
together & reinstalled & still nothing. Is there
something i am missing in this situation? Please help!
thanks.
