I did something stupid. I was trying to figure out if
there's a way to take the arrow off the shortcut icons,
and somehow I accidently made it so that shortcuts don't
work. Is there an application that should be associated
with the .LNK files?

What exactly did you to so that shortcuts no longer work?

An easy way to remove or make the shortcut arrow less visible is with
TweakUI, which can be downloaded from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp.
