Volume Control missing
Posted by Nancy on December 12th, 2007

I used to have a little speaker icon down by the clock for adjusting the
volume on my computer. It's not there any more. I think it's one of the
things removed by the geeks, when I had my computer problems.

I've looked in Programs and don't see anything.

I have Windows XP, using IE 7.
Thanks

Start>ControlPanel>Sounds and Audio>check "place volume icon in the taskbar">
Apply>OK out.

I found it and when I click it I get the message "Windows cannot display
the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Control program has not
been installed. To install it use add/remove programs in Control Panel".

When I try this, it asks for a CD or Windows Upgrade. It was already on the
computer when I got it, I don't have a set of CDs to reinstall anything and
I'm on automatic upgrade.

Thanks again!

Do a file search for sndvol32.exe of your "C" drive. When it finds it,
it may be under System32 or in a i386 directory. Double click it.
Good luck :~)
