- ?? winlogon.exe - Entry Point Not Found ???????
- Posted by sarrah on September 11th, 2003
When i turn on my computer i get this
message: "winlogon.exe: Entry Point Not Found. the
procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could not be
located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll." I click
OK and get this message: "User interface failure. the
logon user interface DLLmsgina.dll failed to load. contact
your system administrator to replace to DLL or restore the
original DLL." the only option the message gives me is
click restart...and we start all over again.
this happened after i downloaded Windows updates,
including the new security patch. when i restarted to
finish the installation, it gave me te error messages.
could i have downloaded something shifty? how can i
restore the original dll? how did i lose it in the first
place?
thanks for any help i really really appreciate it.

I didn't have a WinXP cd, so i went to j&r and explained
the situation and the service rep told me to get the XP
Home Edition UPGRADE....even though it says on the box the
upgrade is only for 98/ME, will it work for my situation
too? i don't want to open the box and try it bc then they
won't let me return it....thanks for any help. sarrah

Sarrah, I don't know the answer to this one as I haven't been in that
situation nor do I know of anyone who has been in the situation and I
wouldn't like to take a guess. Perhaps repost on the NG or make a call to
Microsoft and ask them.
